What is the correct amounts of swimming for | young swimmers?
There are highly important factors that swimmers of a young age shouldn’t really take part in high volumes of intensity, the main fact of this being that if this intensity takes place to soon, often it will lead to Swimming "BURN OUT", and full development will not take place. Swim burn out comes in many forms, lack of swimming interest, worn out and total tireness with no real recovery, lack of swimming drills tacking place, and to much high volume distance.
Looking to improve your swim fitness for Seaside Fun!?
Open Water Safety
The summer is upon us, and swimming in the open a water is normal, many types off swimmers participant in open water swimming, lakes, the sea, and rivers, but how safe are they, very often, quite safe, if you are in a lake or in a sea swim event very often water safety markers will be out, often branded with the event, these sometimes stay well after the event is over, they then become a great beacon in the water for all swimmers, some may be swimming alone, some in small groups but all benefit from the water safety marker: Open water swimming events are often advertised on swimming websites such as Triathlete.com and other Triathlon Websites such as UK Triathlon.com these types of websites offer really good advice about open water swimming, the safety and the benefits, the websites do offer other advice for triathletes this can be really useful if your undertaking a Tri for the first time:
Triathlon Training Camps
Training for open water swimming is TUFF, nothing can prepare you for the elements of the open air, and many swimmers find it hard to get going at first, these first few open water swims can be quite tricky, at the Cornish swim Academy swimmers can get the opportunity to swim with a coach in the sea and they find confidence, the wind and sea conditions can be a major factor in the time it can take to swim from one point to another, even a small wind chop can make things tricky , its really important to remember this when swimming in the sea, and again open water can or may not suit everybody for this reason. The Triathlon Training Camp can really help, Cornish Swim Academy will soon be offering Open Water Training Camps, Tri Training Camps. For Adults and Juniors, websites like Which Training Camp can really be helpful, finding a great place to practice with expert advice can make a world of difference, you really should set the bar high, aim for best performances and a finish line with a smile on your face!
How To Train for an Open Water Race
So once you have been practising in open water and maybe found some swim coaching workshops and boot camps it s time to start training properly , unfortunately the UK winter gets in the way for most when it comes to swimming open water, the sea drops down in temperature during Dec and Jan after taking all year to warm up to around a balmy 12-13 degrees in most areas, this varies across the UK, the only real way to train for open water swimming is going to be in a swimming pool, these, of course, can be found all over the UK, long course swimming pools 'ie 50m swimming pools can be slightly better for long distance training but swimming for open water can also definitely be improved in 25m swimming pools, most swimming pools allow swimming training fins, and swim training snorkels, these can be an important factor, having the correct kit can really help. Training with hand paddles can also really help and build upper body strength: The best training sets are longer sets, such as 400m 600m 800m and 1500m even bigger sets such as 2,000 m sets at certain heart rate sets that develop a solid aerobic base can be import, you should also consider a little sprint work, miles and miles of the same steady swimming can not always be best.
Additional swimming Kit for Open Water
Some swimmers only really swim in wetsuits, these are an important factor in enjoyment, but also sometimes simply in performance, the neoprene in wet suits offer a better body position in the water, this can often be a factor in many swimmers performance, experts in wetsuits such as SNUG WETSUITS Cornwall can really benefit the open water swimmer or triathlete, custom made suits like this allow a good range of movement in the water, and keep out the cold. Some swimmers like to wear a warm neoprene swim cap, these can keep the cold out if the head, and really do allow the swimmer to swim a little longer in the season, many swimming caps are bright and these can be really useful to keep boats and other watercraft away, swimming goggles play an import factor in the open water swimmers kit, they really are an important factor, swim so many types, and brand its really important to get the correct fit, style and socket type, smoked or clear!

Amounts of young childern that cant swim
Its true, almost half of the primary school kids in the uk cant swim! or are totaly unable to swim 20-25ms with out the use of aids! according to the uk reasearch its saying that more than 1,200)jnr schools are not providing swimming lessons and thats despite it being on the main national curriculum! and while other schools are not ensuring young childeren spend enough time in the pool, and how to learn to swim properly, and according the ASA - there needs to be more awarness and action to ensure that young kids learn the skills of swimming and are able to stay safe around the uk and Cornish water..
Also its beeen found that 45-55% of 7 upto 11 year olds are totaly unable to swim 20+ m which is about the lenght of a main LC pool, and an averaged sized pool.. unaided again, a bit better than last year, however still very low, so our uk childeren are at risk!
Its true that childerne should leave school at a young age with the ability to swim, and be safe, and also have the knowlegde of resuce with water safty skills to help another in trouble.. the uk latest finings show that 1,400 + of JNR schools only have about 20 swimming lessons a week, which is about 12 hour a week in the pool.. so its clear that after school swimming clubs and lessons schools are highly important!
Sign up to our new term in the run up to SUMMER !
